Prepared by the National Student Loans Service Centre - Public Institutions Division
| # 1. Your loan documents will be sent to the NSLSC for processing. The NSLSC is the National Student Loans Service Centre - Public Institutions Division, located in Mississauga, Ontario. It will take up to two business days for your loan documents to arrive at the NSLSC. |
# 2. The NSLSC will begin processing your loan documents as soon as they receive them.
Funds will be issued to you or your school(or both) based on the information provided on your loan document. If some or all of your loan funds are to be issued directly to you,
and:
a) you provided your bank account information for deposit of your loan funds directly into your bank account, your funds will appear in your account within one week from the time your correctly completed loan documents arrive at the NSLSC.
OR
you did not provide your bank account information, your loan funds will be mailed to you in the form of a cheque, which will arrive in your mailbox within two weeks from the time your correctly completed loan documents arrive at the NSLSC. |
#3. You do not need to contact the NSLSC to check the status of your loan unless the Centre has not met the timeframes in # 2.
If the NSLSC identifies any problems with your loan documents that will delay you in receiving your funds, they will contact you.
It is essential that you provide the Centre with your up-to-date telephone number(s) and mailing address. They will call you (usually in the evening) to alert you to any problems. If you have an answering machine, please check it regularly, and return calls from the Centre without delay. The NSLSC wants to work with you to process your loan as quickly as possible. |
# 4. You loan document copies are important. Keep them in a safe place!
It's a good practice to read, file and closely manage financial documents, including your
student loans.
Additionally, copies of your loan documents may come in handy if the NSLSC finds a
problem that can be resolved by sending a fax copy of your documents to them. |
| # 5. If you need help or have questions about your student loan, give the NSLSC a call at: 1-888-815-4514.
You can speak to a borrower service representative Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., your local time.
Automated information lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
TTY service for the hearing impaired is also available at 1-888-815-4556.
