Ontario Student Assistance Program
There are two ways to apply for OSAP funding:
- You can apply on-line by visiting the OSAP Website at this link. Applying on-line is free and is usually available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you need assistance with your on-line application telephone Financial Aid at (613) 727-4723 Ext. 7678. If needed, you can request a appointment with a member of our staff to assist you.
- You can apply using an OSAP paper application. Go to the OSAP Website at this link and print an OSAP application off the website. There is a $10. fee to submit a paper application.

How do I change my address?
If you want to change your address with OSAP, log-on to the OSAP website at this link: OSAP Website. You will be given the opportunity to update your address information with OSAP. To change your address at Algonquin College contact the Registrar's Office at (613) 727-0002.
How do I obtain a new OSAP PIN?
To obtain a new PIN go to the the Financial Aid Office in Room C225 with one piece of valid photo I.D. issued in Canada by the federal, a provincial or territorial government. Examples of acceptable ID are: a valid driver's licence, passport, provincial health card with photo, permanent residency or citizenship card and your actual government-issued Social Insurance Number (S.I.N.) card or call us at
(613) 727-4723 Ext. 7678 for further information.
How do I check on the status of my OSAP application?
You can log-on to the OSAP website at this link: OSAP Website to check the status of your application, or call 1-866-330-3331.
I am having problems applying for OSAP assistance on-line. Where can I go for help?
Call Financial Aid at (613) 727-4723 Ext. 7678 and we will be glad to assist you. During the summer months (May to August) Financial Aid also has computers for our clients to use plus staff available to help you through the on-line application process.
How do I receive my second term OSAP funding?
Students who have been assessed for OSAP for two terms receive 60% of their OSAP funds the first term. However, the second portion of your OSAP funds (40%) is only released to you after you come into the Financial Aid Office in the second term and we confirm your eligibility for this funding. Please bring the OSAP required one piece of of valid photo I.D. issued in Canada by the federal, a provincial or territorial government. Examples of acceptable ID are: a valid driver's licence, passport, provincial health card with photo, permanent residency or citizenship card and your actual government-issued Social Insurance Number (S.I.N.) card plus a void cheque anytime you wish to pick up OSAP loans.

Fee Deferment
I would like to defer my fee payment until I pick up my OSAP funds.
How do I apply for a fee deferment?
On-Line Fee Deferment - LINK to apply through ACSIS
OSAP eligible students only
- You must have applied on-line for OSAP funding to the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities - OSAP website link.
- You must have submitted your signed official OSAP Declaration and Signature Pages to the Financial Aid Office at Algonquin College. These OSAP pages may also be required for a spouse or parents, if applicable.
Note:
- Please allow up to 48 hours to process OSAP Declaration/Signature pages
submitted to Financial Aid before you apply for an on-line fee deferment.
- Fee deferments at Algonquin College must be obtained each term.

Manual Fee Deferment Process - note 1) and 2) which follow -
- Students from Canadian provinces or territories outside of Ontario who received official confirmation of eligibility for provincial government student financial assistance are eligible to apply for a manual fee deferment.
and
- OSAP eligible students who have tried to apply for an on-line fee deferment through ACSIS but were not successful may apply for approval of a manual fee deferment. If you apply for OSAP funding with the Booklet application you must submit your completed OSAP application + required documentation directly to Financial Aid before requesting approval for a manual fee deferment.
To Apply for a Manual Fee Deferment:
- A paper application form can be obtained from the Financial Aid Office or you can download a pdf copy from this link. Please submit your completed paper application form, as soon as possible, directly to Financial Aid for processing.
- The amount of your confirmed government funding (i.e. OSAP) each term must be sufficient to cover the amount of your fee deferment.
- Fee deferments at Algonquin College must be obtained each term.

Cash Advance
How do I qualify for a cash advance?
If, as a registered student, you run into unexpected expenses or your student loan is delayed, you may be able to borrow from the College's cash advance fund until your other funds arrive. Please inquire at the Financial Aid Office.
