The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is intended as a supplement toward the costs of your education while attending college.

IMPORTANT:  When you come to the Financial Aid Office to pick up your OSAP loan documents you must be registered; must have paid your fees or had your fees deferred and must bring one piece of of valid photo I.D. issued in Canada by the federal, a provincial or territorial government. Examples of acceptable ID are: a valid driver's licence, passport, provincial health card with photo, permanent residency or citizenship card and your actual government-issued Social Insurance Number (S.I.N.) card.

You will need a VOID CHEQUE from your personal chequing or savings account when you take your OSAP documents to National Student Loans Service Centre on campus kiosk or a designated Canada Post outlet to be processed.

You must also be prepared to sign an official declaration confirming the accurate gross amount of your Summer earnings when starting in the Fall term (or for the 16 weeks prior to your study period start date if starting in the Winter/Spring terms). Students completing high school in June use gross earnings for eight weeks of the July and August period prior to a Fall term start date.

Use the on-line web site at http://osap.gov.on.ca for 2009-2010 year applications. You do not have to wait for a reply about admission to college or university to apply for OSAP. Most libraries and educational institutions have computers with Internet connections for public use. Note that 95% of OSAP applications are submitted on-line. When available a paper application can be downloaded from the OSAP web site. There is a $10. fee to submit a paper application.

 

2010-2011 OSAP application will be available in May of 2010.
