What is the Algonquin College Foundation?

The Algonquin College Foundation has a full-time staff of three and reports to the Algonquin College Foundation Board of Directors that meet every two months throughout the year.

Does the Algonquin College Foundation issue a charitable tax receipt?

Yes, the Algonquin College Foundation issues a tax receipt of the approved value of philanthropic gifts. Receipts will automatically be issued for donation $20 or greater.

May I designate a gift to a specific program?

Yes. As a donor you may specify a specific program as the recipient of your donation. We will work with you to set up your gift.

May I leave a gift to Algonquin College in my will?

Yes. Foundation staff will work with you and your financial advisors to establish

criteria that will ensure that your gift is used in accordance to your wishes.

How much money is needed to set up an endowed (named) bursary?

In order to set up an endowed bursary you need to donate a minimum of $10,000. This bursary would be disbursed every year at a rate of 4% to the program you have selected. This award will go on in perpetuity and can be supplemented to by the donor.

Is is possible to have people donate in the name of s friend, family or co-worker who has passed away?

Yes. These donations are called in memoriam donations and the names of the donors are sent to the family of the deceased to notify them who has made the donation.

May I donate equipment, books or property to the Foundation?

Algonquin College Foundation does accept approved gifts of equipment, books and property. To properly process these donations appraisals must be done by in house experts or third party appraisers depending on the amount of the item. A tax receipt will then be issued for the fair market value of the donation.

If I want to make a donation to the College who do I call?

Contact Cathy Palmer, Foundation Assistant at (613) 727-4723 ext. 7113 to donate by credit card over the phone. We accept the following credit cards: VISA, MC, American Express.

You can forward a cheque payable to the Algonquin College Foundation c/o 1385 Woodroffe Ave, Suite B210, Ottawa,ON K2G 1V8.

To donate on-line go back to the Ways to Give Page and click on Canada Helps.org and designate your gift on-line to Algonquin College and receive a tax receipt on-line.

How long does it take to receive a tax receipt after a donation is made?

A tax receipt will be sent to you within two weeks of your donation.
