Over the last four decades, Algonquin College has continuously expanded its program offerings to keep abreast of changing employment needs. Now, to better meet the needs of Canada's transportation industry, Algonquin College has significantly upgraded its training facilities with the construction of the all-new Transportation Technology Centre.
Each year, 300 transportation repair and service companies choose Algonquin College for apprenticeship training. This state-of-the-art Transportation Technology Centre is the largest and most modern transportation training facility in Eastern Ontario.
To build this facility, Algonquin College took advantage of a short window to apply for government funding through the Super Build and Apprenticeship Enhancement Funds. The College was successful in securing $4.8 million to build and equip the new centre.
The overall cost of the building is $6.8 million and the Super Build Guidelines require that Algonquin College seeks matching funding from our community.
Algonquin College's challenge is to raise at least $2 million for the Transportation CXampaign to meet this governments requirement. In order to help us address the training needs of the coming years, we are inviting all of our transportation partners to invest in their own training and recruitment future by helping us meet this target.
