Bequests and Your Will

Bequests and your WillBy leaving a bequest through your Will to the Algonquin College Foundation you can impact the lives of students and academic programs for generations to come.

There are three types of bequests:

Specific bequest, a fixed amount of cash.
Percentage bequest, a percentage share of the estate.
Contingent bequest, this type of bequest only takes effect in the event of the prior death of any named beneficiaries.

If you have never drafted a Will or have considered making changes to your current Will, your lawyer can include  a bequest to the Algonquin College Foundation.  The Algonquin College Foundation suggests the following language:

To pay the Algonquin College Foundation the sum of $_____ or _____% share of my estate to be used for such purposes of Algonquin College as its Board of Directors may from time to time determine.

You can also direct your funds to specific programs, bursaries, scholarships, equipment or facility enhancements.

This information is confidential.  You are not obligated to uphold your bequest if circumstances or intentions change.  You can amend your Will at anytime.

If you are interested in more information on leaving a legacy in your Will please contact your lawyer and or the Algonquin College Foundation by calling Graham Thompson, Manager-Major Gifts-Planned Giving, 613-727-4723 ext 5496.
