Who is well suited for the SSW Program?

Those who: Are committed to addressing social issues, such as poverty, homelessness, oppression and human rights.

  • Have effective interpersonal skills.
  • Are team oriented and enjoy working with others.
  • Deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Understanding the importance of effective communication with clients and community/partners.
  • Have resolved personal issues and challenges.

What are the program hours?

You will have classes Monday to Friday scheduled between the hours of 8:00 am – 10:00 pm.

What are the differences between a diploma program and a degree program?

A diploma program is usually a 2-year program. A degree program is usually a 3-5 year program offered at a university depending on your program of choice. The SSW diploma will allow you to register as a Social Service Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers, however not as a Social Worker. Are there pathway options to continue my studies? Are there any transfer agreements?

Articulation agreements are available for you should you decide to continue your studies.
