Summer students are often used at the College during summer vacation periods.  This newly introduced Appendix applies to these summer employees, who are employed temporarily for more than 24 hours per week during the period of May 1 to August 31 inclusive.

Appendix G employees are required to be paid no less than $8.00 per hour and are subject to the payment of union dues, as they have the ability to use the grievance process to uphold their entitlements under the Appendix.  Appendix G employees are also entitled to the payment of overtime wages (1.5 or 2 times the normal hourly wage) and shift premium.

Effective May 1, 2006, Appendix G employees will also be entitled to 4% in lieu of vacation.

No bargaining unit employee shall be laid off or have his/her normal hours of work reduced as a direct result of the hiring of Appendix G Summer Students.
