| Reasonable & Customary Charges |
When submitting a benefit claim, the amount of your reimbursement will be limited by the particulars of your benefit plan as well as the "Reasonable and Customary Charges" determined by Sun Life. These charges reflect the maximum amount for which a health care professional can charge you for a particular service, and thus the maximum which you can submit to Sun Life.
- For example:
- You are charged $150 per visit by your acupuncturist, however, the reasonable and customary charge determined by Sun Life is $100 per visit. You will therefore be reimbursed 85% of $100, or $85, and must pay the remainder out of pocket.
Effective May 2007.
* May also provide acupuncture treatments if the provider is accredited to do so by the applicable licensing body.
