Information Security and Privacy Home


The Information Security and Privacy Department (ISPD) is a department within Information Technology Services (ITS) responsible for identifying, assessing, and assisting in managing cyber security and digital privacy risks to Algonquin College. The Information Security and Privacy Department (ISPD) consists of two sub-departments

  • Cyber Security
  • Privacy Office

The Cyber security unit is accountable for the policies, directives, standards, and guidelines to help ensure the security of our digital assets. They define the controls to ensure security and also audit our digital environment to ensure compliance.
Services include: Cyber Security assessments, Cyber Security Incident Management, and Cyber security awareness training program.

The College’s Privacy Office offer services to support the College’s collection, use, and disclosure of personal information and help the College ensure they comply with the applicable laws and regulatory expectations. These services include providing advisories on privacy inquiries; promoting a culture of privacy; training and awareness for employees, students, customers, and other stakeholders on best practices for data privacy and security; data incident response support; providing updates on current laws as applicable to the College and access requests. The goal of the Privacy Office is to help ensure that personal information is kept confidential and secure and that any incidents are quickly identified and dealt with appropriately.
