Post Graduate Work Permit Letter

A Proof of Enrolment letter can be issued for the following:

  1. To prove that you are enrolled.
  2. To extend your study permit – to learn more about extending your study permit visit the CIC website. Note: students are encouraged to add an extra 90 days to their applications for study permit extensions.
  3. To apply for a new visa to enter Canada. To find out if you are required to have a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to re-enter Canada, please visit the CIC website
  4. If you wish to visit another country and require a proof of enrolment for visa application.
  5. To invite a family member or friend to visit you while you are studying or on a scheduled break. Note: you should also prepare an invitation letter as well.
  6. To obtain a Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Please note: If your study permit does not indicate you are eligible to work in Canada, you will first need to amend it via MyCIC with a Proof of Enrolment letter before you can apply for a SIN. You will need a SIN card to work off-campus. Note: English Language (EAP) students are not eligible to work off-campus.

A Proof of Continuing Studies Letter can be used for the following:

  1. To prove that you will be a returning Student.

Please note: This letter can only be printed if you have a Returning Status on your file.

A Post Graduate Work Permit Letter (PGWP) can be used for the following:

  1. To apply for the PGWP.
  2. To invite a family member or friend to Convocation Ceremony. Note: you should also prepare an invitation letter as well.

Please note: Your Post Graduation Work Permit letter will be available for printing as soon as a graduated status has been entered on your student record. This is done by the Registrar’s Office and can take between 2-4 weeks after the final exam period. If you request your PGWP letter prior to your status changing, your letter request will be held in a queue.

Please do not email us about your letter request if your status has not yet changed to Graduated.

If you are experiencing difficulties printing your letter through ACSIS, please fill out the form below. Your letter will be sent to you within 3-5 business days. It is your responsibility to request your letter in advance as we do not make any exceptions. We will only consider expediting your request if your study permit is expiring within the next 30 days.

Please do not make multiple requests, as it will slow down our ability to respond.
