Things to do


Things to do as soon as you arrive:

  • Attend your Orientation
  • Get your student card
  • Get your bus pass if you're living off campus and your residence is not a walking distance from the College.
  • Open a bank account (optional)
Orientation programs


All International Students are invited and encouraged to attend an orientation which will

  • introduce you to Algonquin and IEC services
  • help you settle into life in Ottawa and Algonquin College,
  • have your questions answered.

This is an opportunity for you to make new friends from around the world!

Pre-Departure Orientation


This powerpoint presentation will give you some basic information before you arrive at Algonquin College and will allow you to prepare accordingly:

Orientation for ESL

You will learn about the Algonquin and IEC services, how to get involved, Algonquin student ID card, student email accounts, work on campus, transportation in Ottawa, lockers, health insurance, and many other useful topics.

Details of the orientation will be given to you at the TOEIC placement test.

Orientation for Academic Students

You will learn about the Algonquin Student ID card, transportation in Ottawa, Counselling and Peer tutoring services, lockers, the International Student Club (ISC), Citizenship and Immigration Canada issues, English 1 for international, as well as many other topics you will find useful while attending Algonquin College here in Ottawa, Canada’s Capital!
