Algonquin's International Youth Internship Program

The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) is an employment program for young Canadians between the ages of 19-30. If you're a post-secondary graduate, you could be eligible for this chance of a lifetime to work in a developing country and contribute to Canada's international development goals. Not only will this experience contribute to your personal and professional growth, your sponsor organization will lend a helping hand in your search for employment once your internship ends.

The program is part of the Career Focus stream of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES), which gives young people the tools and experience they need to launch successful careers.

Over the past four years, the International Youth Internship Program at Algonquin has sent 13 graduates to the developing world to work with Algonquin International partner organizations in South Africa, Tanzania and India. The program, funded by CIDA, provides financial support for young Canadians to gain valuable development work experience abroad. Algonquin graduates from the Social Service Worker, Small and Medium Enterprise Management, and the Radio Broadcasting Program have benefited from the overseas employment opportunity. Algonquin interns have provided valuable support to our international educational partners including the Zanzibar Hospitality and Tourism Institute in Tanzania, the Agnel Technical Education Complex in India, and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town, South Africa.
