Building and Extending Skills Training Systems (BEST) Project
The Building and Extending Skills Training Systems Project in Jordan is funded by CIDA to support the reform of the Jordanian Technical and Vocational Education System. The Project, lead by the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST), lends technical support to the Jordanian Ministry of Labour to develop a demand-driven training system based on employer and private sector needs. Algonquin's IEC is working in collaboration with SIAST, providing technical assistance in the area of gender equality.
The IEC's involvement in the project has been instrumental in the development of a baseline survey on gender participation in Technical and Vocational education in Jordan , the development of the project Gender Equality Strategy and related activities. Algonquin will continue to provide technical assistance and training services as part of the SIAST-Algonquin project partnership. The four year project runs until 2012.
