Canada's Role in International Development
Canada plays a major role in the global effort to reduce poverty, promote human rights, and support sustainable development. It achieves this by funding various projects and by forming partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) within Canada and across the globe. "The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is Canada's lead agency for development assistance. It manages most of Canada's development assistance programs and projects on behalf of Canadians." "CIDA works closely with other federal departments, many kinds of Canadian organizations, international organizations, other donor countries, and of course, developing countries themselves" to make the world a better place to live in.
