- To provide underemployed or unemployed youth of Canada with a first paid career-related international work experience to prepare and position them for future employment;
- To bridge the gap between formal education and a career;
- To fully utilize, increase, and enhance the skills already acquired from formal education and previous experience (if any), and develop the qualifications required to succeed in a career with an international development focus;
- To strengthen partnerships between CIDA, Canada-based organizations active internationally, and overseas institutions in order to advance CIDA's priorities.
