Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The goal of the project is to strengthen the institutional capacity of SGCN to deliver modern, skills-based, employment driven training that meets the human resource needs of business, industry and the community in Sichuan Province.
The project seeks to implement a series of institutional development activities that will enable SGCN to effectively and efficiently identify employer needs and community interests, design curricula, deliver training and manage the training process both in the institutional and using outreach mechanisms. With this strengthened institutional capacity, the SGCN College will have an impact on the economic success of local communities, and their graduates will increase their earning power and entrepreneurial abilities.
Description of Actual Services Provided:
The services provided through this project include:
- Technical Assistance resulting in the development of a new community-oriented rural health curriculum
- Provision of training workshops focusing on Participatory Rural Appraisal, train the trainer methodology, adult education methodology and project management training
- Documents, manuals and texts will be produced to support the curriculum delivery
- The creation of various on-going committees with defined roles including Project Management Committee, Technical Advisory Team, all with a mandate to guide program development, delivery and evaluation
- Training in Canada for eight Indian faculty members to learn about rural health education, curriculum development, utilizing information and communication technologies and outcomes based education
