Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The project aims to establish a community-based health education program that will lead to the alleviation of poverty in India and to the improved health of community members, in particular women. The project will help design health education and training programs of the Agnel Technical Education Complex that address the needs of the communities served and promote the community-based model of health planning and delivery.
Description of Actual Services Provided:
The services provided through this project include:
- Technical Assistance resulting in the development of a new community-oriented rural health curriculum
- Provision of training workshops focusing on Participatory Rural Appraisal, train the trainer methodology, adult education methodology and project management training
- Documents, manuals and texts will be produced to support the curriculum delivery
- The creation of various on-going committees with defined roles including Project Management Committee, Technical Advisory Team, all with a mandate to guide program development, delivery and evaluation
- Training in Canada for eight Indian faculty members to learn about rural health education, curriculum development, utilizing information and communication technologies and outcomes based education
