Libyan Minister of Health Visit to Algonquin College

A high-level Libyan delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Hussein Ali Hussein and accompanied by Dr. Hakim Al Shariff, Medical Attaché at the Libyan Embassy in Ottawa and other Ministry’s staff, visited Algonquin College on October 7th to explore areas of cooperation between the Libyan Ministry and Algonquin College.

The delegation was well received by Mr. Claude Brule, VP Academic, Mr. Ernest Mulvey, Director of International Education center, Marlene Tosh, Chair of Specialty Nursing, Re-entry Programs and Contract Training, and Basam Al-Hasoo, Manager of International partnerships and Programs. The delegation then attended a presentation on the Algonquin College Schools and Programs and its international activities. The guests were then taken on a campus tour on the college facilities including the Nursing labs.

An LOI to train Libyan medical staff at Algonquin College is signed between the two parties. This new partnership with AC is the firstof its kind that the Libyan government has ever entered with any other Canadian Institution.
