Improving College System Pathways Project
The goals of this project are “to significantly increase educational pathways within and between colleges by developing a clearer understanding of student mobility within the system; to identify the scope of the issues related to mobility and the barriers which may exist; to design system-wide strategies; and to encourage colleges to address issues related to student mobility through funding of pathways projects.”
Baseline data has been collected from existing college system surveys and segmented into Direct Entrants (from High School) and Indirect Entrants (from the Workforce and Post Secondary) ( PPT document).
A survey of students who have requested transfer between community colleges is underway in Fall, 2007.
Pandemic Plan
An influenza pandemic is a worldwide influenza epidemic, resulting in a global health emergency as the population has little or no immunity to the circulating strain. As a result, the impacts of pandemic will not be institutionally specific but will be a societal problem and are best managed by the coordinated participation and cooperation of governments, businesses, institutions, organizations and citizens. Colleges by definition are an integral part of the communities in which they reside. The underlying theme to this plan is that Algonquin will work with its many partners to provide the most effective response possible to support its students, its employees and the local economies.
