Events, A/V and Presentation Services

Purpose

To provide the highest quality Audio Visual support across Algonquin College. Achieving optimal allocation of Support Staff and equipment based on need, use, and timelines.
Algonquin ITS Events, A/V, and Presentation Services is responsible for the physical set-up of A/V for all campus social or major events, including annual events, such as Convocation, the Town Hall, the Board of Governors, Exams and Open House. ITS Audio Video Event Support team work very closely with many other units on campus along with Catering and Conference Services at Algonquin College and Coordinators from various faculties.

Scope

Algonquin College faculty, staff, and students receive priority for Events, A/V, and Presentation Services support services.
Event, A/V, and Presentation support for organizations outside of Algonquin College is available, but is subject to rates. All event support requests are reviewed/approved on a case-by-case basis.

Principles

Algonquin College ITS provides audio/visual equipment to the College community, to make teaching, learning, and interacting at Algonquin College more accessible and exciting. To that end, Algonquin College ITS is responsible for the following:

  1. Teaching space and technical support
    • physical and technological standards for multimedia space design, and multimedia equipment acquisition, installation and maintenance,
    • multimedia room design, as well as the acquisition and installation of portable and permanent equipment,
    • facility and equipment distribution and testing,
    • equipment maintenance, updating and technical support, and
    • supporting lecture recordings.
  2. Other services
    • acquisition of portable audio visual equipment to support on-campus events
    • loans of audio visual equipment, parts and accessories, including personal response systems (clickers),
    • audio visual equipment maintenance,
    • audio visual production, duplication, and audio and video recording, as well as format conversion for Web or other,
    • webcasting with option for live captioning (must inquire)
    • technical and equipment support for teleconferences
    • technical support in teaching laboratories
    • campus-wide special-event support, including projection, sound and video recording,
    • digital displays (standards, acquisition, installation, infrastructure and software).

Audio Visual equipment and facilities on campus are the property of the College and, as such, must remain at the disposal of the entire College community. This availability is ensured by ITS, which maintains and distributes a central inventory of equipment.
