What
is Acadaix?
Acadaix is a Unix Test server that is
primarily used by students enrolled in a Unix based course. ITS is only responsible for resolving
student's login problems. Any questions about UNIX should be answered by
their instructors.
What
is the server?
Acadaix runs on the server: acadaix.algonquincollege.com

Account
Creation Process
Unix based courses are flagged by Genesis.
The corresponding class list is sent to ITS who creates accounts
for all students within the flagged course. If students registered late, then acadaix
account creation are delayed. Students inquiring about account creations
should contact their instructors or the ITS Help Desk.
How to
login
Within the
College:
1 - Start > Run > type "telnet acadaix"

2 - At the Acadaix window (Figure
2), enter username and password.
Username: NT username (abcd0001)
Password: PIN #

For Remote
connection:
1 - Connect to Algonquin (VPN)
2 - Start / Run / type "telnet acadaix.algonquincollege.com"
3 - Enter your user name and password
i.e. USER NAME: abcd0000, PIN: yA1312312
Login
Problems?
Login problems are usually due to one of
the following:
1. Account not created
2. Incorrect syntax
3. Incorrect username/password
4. Server down
1. Confirm
that student is enrolled in a Unix based course.
If student
registered late for the course, then account creation is delayed.

2. Correct
syntax is as follows:
In the College:
telnet acadaix
username: abcd0001
password: pin
At home (Client must be connected to Algonquin
network through VPN:
telnet acadaix.algonquincollege.com
username: abcd0001
password: pin
3. Incorrect
username/password:
Students login to Acadaix originally with
their student username and pin number. Students may change their acadaix
password using the “passwd” command. If they have done this and cannot
remember the new password, ITS can reset it for them. (See Password Resets)
