| Algonquin College - Printing a Document |
|

| Printer |
- Printing from an application run through the Citrix MetaFrame plugin is the same as printing from
the computer you are using. You simply choose print and the default printer will be the same
as your current computer.
- For this example, we will use Microsoft Word 2007. Print dialogues may vary but the options will
be similar.
- Notice here that the printer selected is Lexmark T642. This is the default printer for the computer.
- We can also change this by selecting another printer from the drop down list. All printers installed
on your current computer will be available.
- Once we have chosen a printer, we simply press print and the document will come out of the chosen printer.

- It is also possible to print to a PDF file. This means that we can tell the application to print the
document and it will store is as a PDF file which can be read on virtually all computers in the world
or printed at a later date.
- For this example, we will once again use Microsoft Word 2007. Print dialogues may vary but the options
will be similar.
- Notice that when we open the print dialogue, the current printer is the default printer for our current
computer (in this case it is a Lexmark T642).
- We need to change this to the Adobe PDF printer. To do this, we click the drop down box and choose
the printer that starts with "Adobe PDF" and looks similar to the one in the screenshot below.
- Once we have chosen the printer, we simply press ok.
- At this point, another dialogue box will appear. This new dialogue box will allow you to save the new PDF
file to the hard drive.
- This is different than when saving a document as this dialogue is the same as if you were
using an application on your local computer. You will see the drives laid out as they are
when not using the Citrix MetaFrame plugin.
- To save the file, simply choose a location and press save. In this case, we have chosen My Documents.
This is the My Documents on the computer you are currently using and not the same as when you Save
a document using the Citrix MetaFrame plugin. See Saving a Document for more information.
- Once we have done this, a PDF document will be created and stored in the location of our choice. You
may see the dialogue in the following screenshot but on a fast computer it will disappear very fast.
