These instructions are intended to get you started with your student web account. We are not able to teach web management. For web design, posting or site management please speak to your web design teacher or department chair.
Account creation:
New accounts are created when you visit : http://www.algonquinstudents.ca/
Click on Account Request on the left and follow the prompts. The account will be created almost immediately.
To confirm that you have an account just visit your web site at:
http://www.algonquinstudents.ca/~<username> (you must use the tilde character ~)
- If it exists you will see a temporary web page
- If it does not exist you will ge an error.

Forgot Password:
You can reset it yourself. Follow the instructions above for an Account Creation, using "Account Request" It will recognize that your account exists and offers to reset your password to your Algonquin network account password.

FTP Instructions
(How to set up your ftp program for posting web pages)
If you visit the web server at: http://www.algonquinstudents.ca/ and click on Quick Start Guide you get the required ftp settings for this server. Speak to your teacher about entering these setting into your FTP program.
These example may help you set up for FTP.
Option 1. Use Internet Explorer 7 or 8 to ftp the files to the web server. XP Click here + 7+Vista
Option 2. FTP GUI

Be sure to click on Advanced tab and uncheck the passive option.
Option 3. Dreamweaver

Note the passive option is unchecked
