Algonquin College - Creating an Account
Account Creation
  • This is the main starting page. To get here, point your browser to: http://algonquinstudents.com.
  • There are several thing that can be done from this page but first we need to make the account request. This is done by clicking on the question: Q1. How do I request a web account here?

  • This will expand the question which gives a brief explanation on how to create a new account. To start this process now, click on the link in the question: http://xweb.algonquincollege.com/wct

  • This will now bring you to a login page. This page asks you for your username and password as well as the campus you attend. The username and password are the same as you use to logon to Blackboard and Webmail. Please be sure to choose the proper campus in the drop-down box (in this example, it would be for a student at the Woodroffe campus). Once you have entered the information, please press Login.

  • The following page is the User Agreement. You can find out more about this by clicking here. Once you have finished reading, please choose I agree and then press Continue.

  • At this point we are ready to set a password for the new account. Please enter the chosen password (please read the instructions to the right very carefully) and then confirm it. This will be the password you will use to login to the new account once it is created.

  • We are now almost finished the account creation process. At this point a little dialogue box will appear asking you to wait until the account is created. Simply press OK.

  • You should now see the New Academic Account Results page. If all went well, it will appear as below (see screenshot). There are just a few more steps but we must first wait for two crucial emails. Check Webmail often until the two emails arrive. For now we are done. Please see the section below for what to do once the two emails have arrived.

    Two Emails
  • At this point we have gone through the account creation process and are waiting for the two emails signifying that the account is ready to use. Check Webmail frequently. The two emails we are waiting for have for their subjects: New Web User Account and New User Account (see screenshot for details).

  • Congratulations, your account has been created. At this point we need to open one of the emails (it doesn't matter which email you choose). The two emails are very similar. They contain your username and password for the new account as well as a link. The link is used to login for the first time and setup the new account. Please write down your user information and then click the link to proceed.

    First Login
  • After clicking on the link in the above section, Two Emails, we are ready to login to the new account for the first time. You should now see a screen similar to the screenshot. Enter the username and password exactly as they appeared in the emails from the previous step (you can also select an alternative language if you'd like) and then click the Log In button to continue.

  • Once you have entered the information and pressed the Log In button, you will be presented with a screen allowing you to enter an alternate email address as well as a security question. Please enter your alternate email address (such as a Hotmail or Gmail address) and choose a secret question. This question will be asked if you forget your password and click on the forgot you password link from the login screen so it is a good idea to pick something that you can easily remember. When you are ready, press Save.

  • Congratulations, your new account is now setup and ready to go. The new screen is called the Control Panel and is the main screen which you can use to administer your account. Here you can change various account settings and use the various help and overview links for more information. For information on basic account usage, please use the menu to the left of this page.
