- Launch Microsoft Outlook 2003 by using the Outlook icon

- Depending on how your Outlook 2003 has been set up, your default start-up screen will either be your Inbox (see figure 1) or your Outlook Today (see figure 2).

The Microsoft Outlook 2003 Interface consists of three main sections:
- The Navigation Pane (see figure 3)
- Allows you to select the folders that you want to view
- You can also click on the corresponding buttons to view calendar, tasks, notes, etc.
- The option that you click on will appear in the Active Folder
- The Active Folder (see figure 3)
- Displays the Inbox, Calendar, Tasks, Notes (depending on which button you click on in the Navigation Pane)
- The Reading Pane (see figure 3)
- Allows you to view your emails without having to double-click on them
