Communications Suite - Using Outlook -Getting Started
Launching Microsoft Outlook
  • Launch Microsoft Outlook 2003 by using the Outlook icon Outlook Icon
  • Depending on how your Outlook 2003 has been set up, your default start-up screen will either be your Inbox (see figure 1) or your Outlook Today (see figure 2).

The Microsoft Outlook 2003 Interface consists of three main sections:

  • The Navigation Pane (see figure 3)
    • Allows you to select the folders that you want to view
    • You can also click on the corresponding buttons to view calendar, tasks, notes, etc.
    • The option that you click on will appear in the Active Folder
  • The Active Folder (see figure 3)
    • Displays the Inbox, Calendar, Tasks, Notes (depending on which button you click on in the Navigation Pane)
  • The Reading Pane (see figure 3)
    • Allows you to view your emails without having to double-click on them
