Dial Up - Mac OS 10.1.x and 10.2.x
  • Open Up System Preferences, which can be found on the DOCK or under the apple menu. 
    • The icon resembles a light switch with the Apple logo beside it.
    • Once open you should see a screen similar to the one above. 
    • Click on the Network Icon, which is located under Internet & Network

  • Once the network menu is open change the Show menu item to Internal Modem. 
    • Then beside the Configure item select “Using PPP” from the drop down menu. 
    • Under DNS Server enter in the address 205.211.30.22. 
    • For Search Domains enter in algonquincollege.com as shown above

  • After you fill in the TCP/IP information click on the tab that says PPP. 
    • Then enter in a name for the service provider (Algonquin).
    • Next insert your username and password. 
      Your username should be similar to this: stje0001. 
    • Next insert your network login password. 
    • For the telephone number enter in the number that corresponds to your campus. 
    • After you’re finished it should look like the above picture.

  • Next click on the Modem Tab
    • In this area click on the drop down menu beside the Modem item to select the type of modem that you have installed. Most new Macs have an internal 56K (v.90) modem as shown above. 
    • If your modem is not listed you will have to contact your modem manufacturer for an OS 10.2 driver. 
    • Fill in the info according to your type of phone line and select a country setting. 
    • You can also click on the item to wait for a dial tone before dialing.
    • Make sure you click on the item to show modem status in menu bar. 
    • Once all areas are filled in as shown above click on the Apply Now button.

  • Once you’re finished with the System Preferences you can close it and click on the Modem icon that is now in the menu bar at the top of your screen. 
    • Once selected you can click on connect as shown in the image above. 
    • It will then connect to the Algonquin server. 
    • When your modem is dialing a scrolling message will appear beside the modem icon. 
    • Once you are connected you will also be able to disconnect from the Internet by using this menu.

  • If you have any problems with your internet setup you can reconfigure it through the network system preference or you can click on Open Internet Connection from the modem menu as shown in the above image.
