| Setting Up - Change Login to Network: |

- For Windows ME
- Right-click on the My Network Places icon and select properties.
|
- The Network Properties box will appear.
- You will see three tabs: Configuration, Identification and Access Control.
- If the Network Properties box did not appear or you cannot find the Network icon on your desktop, try launching it via the Control Panel (i.e. (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> double click the Network icon).

Click the Identification tab.

Change the Computer Name to your UserID (user000#)

For Workgroup, put the campus that you are attending: woodroffe or perth or pembroke or elgin.

You can leave the computer description blank.

| Enter the domain name in Client for Microsoft: |
- In Network Properties, Under the Configuration tab, double click on Client for Microsoft.
- This will bring up the Client for Microsoft properties box.

- Leave the “Log on to Windows NT domain” checkbox blank.
- Enter the campus (ie. Woodroffe, Pembroke, Elgin or Perth) in the Windows NT domain textbox.
- Click OK

| Setting Up - Configure the Access Control |
- In Network Properties, select the Access Control tab.
- Select the radio button for “User-level access control” and enter the campus in the textbox provided.
- Click Ok
- When you press Ok, the following box will appear:

- Authenticator Type window will appear next.
- Click on the down triangle (drop-down list) and choose NT DOMAIN. Click 'OK' to accept these settings.
- You will be prompted to restart your computer, say Yes

| Setting Up - Check local username |
- When your pc reboots, you should login with your Algonquin username and password.
- If you do not get a login box, when you reboot your system, you will have to create a local username.
- Creating a local username
- To connect to the Algonquin network resources such as your N: drive, you must first create a local username on your machine that matches your username on the College Network.
- Open the Control Panel dialog as illustrated below (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel).

Click on the icon Users.

Select New User and follow the instructions to create a username that matches your Algonquin account name. Set the password the same as your Algonquin Network password at the College.
Once you are finished you will be prompted to restart you computer. When you are prompted to login to your pc, enter your Algonquin username and password.

| Mapping your N-Drive on Windows 98/ME |

Select Map Network Drive... from the pop-up menu.
3. The Map Network Drive window will appear. From the drop-down menu labeled Drive:, select a drive letter.
By convention, some resources may typically be assigned to a particular drive letter. For example, your network share or "N-drive" is N: you may choose any drive letter you wish.

- In the box labeled Path: type the network path to the network share you would like to access.
- In order to do this, you must know the computer name and the share name of the resource you plan to access.
- Student "N-drive" = \\algshare\home
- Staff "N-drive" = \\algshare\home
- Pembroke - Students = \\pembroke-2\username$
- Pembroke - Staff = \\pembroke-1\username$
- Perth - Students = \\perth-2\username$
- Perth - Staff = \\perth-1\username$
- Courseware = \\woodroffe-4\courseware
- Any other network share follows the same conventions. ( \\servername\sharename )
