Algonquin VPN Client  

VPN Client allows you to connect to the Algonquin VPN network using an installable client. The VPN Client can only be used outside the college - not while on campus.

Select:           Install VPN Client         or        Use VPN Client         or        Uninstall VPN Client

Install VPN Client

If this is the first time you are using the Algonquin VPN Client then you must install the client - otherwise you can go straight to Using VPN Client . If you are using an older client which you downloaded prior to December 1, 09 we strongly recommend that you uninstall it and install this newer client, especially if you are having difficulties.

Step One:

Please select and download the appropriate client for your computer and then follow the instructions below. Please note that we do not offer support for non-Windows systems. The Mac and Linux clients are offered as-is for your convenience. You should also follow these instructions.

n  Download the OS-specific Cisco VPN client from the links listed above. Run the program you downloaded. (Windows - choose 32bit if uncertain.)

n  Click on Unzip and the installer will start when unpacking is complete. Follow the prompts

n  A reboot may be required after installation is complete

 

Step Two - After Reboot:

n  Once your computer reboots, launch the Cisco VPN client
Click Start ->All Programs->Cisco Systems VPN Client->VPN Client.

 

Step Three:

n  Click on New and fill-in the fields listed below

Connection Entry:	Algonquin VPN
Description (Optional):	My College VPN Connection
Host:	secure.algonquincollege.com

 

Step Four:

n  Make sure Group Authentication is chosen

n  Fill-in the fields listed below

	Group Authentication
Name:		VPNGroup1
Password:		*********      VPNGroup1
Confirm Password:		*********      VPNGroup1

 

Step Five:

n  Select the Transport Tab

n  Verify the settings as listed below

n  Make sure that the Allow Local LAN Access is selected

Use VPN Client

Step One:

If there is no icon on your desktop:
Click Start ->All Programs->Cisco Systems VPN Client->VPN Client.

All settings should exist so just be sure Algonquin VPN is selected and choose Connect

Enter your Algonquin username and password to start the connection. When the client is successfully connected you will see a small yellow lock beside the clock.

Closing the Session - Be sure to close the client when you are finished accessing college services so that your system is performing at maximum speed. To disconnect you rightclick the yellow lock icon besdie the clock and exit or disconnect.

Uninstall VPN Client

Step One:

Run Control Panel, then got to Programs and run Add or Remove Programs. (This sequence may vary slightly for you depending on your Windows settings.)

Step Two:

Select Cisco System VPN Client, (the version number may not match) then click Change/Remove and follow the prompts. This program will disappear from the list when it is uninstalled.
