PCounter Support               specs    faq    glossary

Most of the College computer labs are set up with the PCounter system. Each student gets 1000 sheets per semester to print. When this is used up you can buy more at the book store. The way it works is:

  • You send a print job to the printer.
  • The system checks if you have enough quota left for that sized print job.
  • If so, then it sends the job to the printer.
  • When the printing is completed it removes that many pages from your quota.

The printing system varies through the College but if you are in a P-Counter lab there are a few things to know.

The icon may also appear as a piece of paper. If there is no icon then go here.

  • You can click on the small icon by the clock to see what your current quota is. Or just hover your mouse over it. When it is empty you can no longer print in PCounter labs.
  • You can buy more quota at the bookstore. It is $11.25 for 150 pages. Or have a friend print it for you. Or print at home.
  • At the end of the semester the quota is set to zero pages. Paper does not carry over even if you may have bought extra pages.
  • If you have disputes about the current quota level visit the ITS help desk to discuss it. The refund policy is that ITS will give you back pages that were improperly printed - bad toner or wrinkled pages or other system problem. ITS will not refund pages that were printed because the client printed 20 copies rather than the 2 they needed. Or if they print the wrong document. Or if they walked away from the computer logged in and someone prints their pages.
  • The paper and toner is locked up and is replaced by the roving lab monitor.
  • If the printer does not print out the job you are waiting for, don't print it again or when the problem is resolved both copies will print and you will be charged for both. Have a problem? Speak to the lab monitor or go to ITS.

To cancel a print job or check on print jobs.

If you need to cancel a print job or check on a print job you can do it by going to:

  • Click "Start"
  • Click "Run", and type \\wopq, log in with "woodroffe\username" and your password if needed. Then click OK.
  • When the PCounter window opens, double click on the printer you want and the job window will open. Scroll till you see your print job. Then right click it and click cancel.
  • Or view the progress of your job.

Laptop Printing

Once you have your laptop connected to the wireless network you can also connect to PCounter printers

Staff

Staff receive 100 sheets per month as a courtesy. They should speak to their department for regular printing resources.

What else?

Students get a variety of other printing services through the Students Association like colour printing, resume printing, faxing, etc.
