Connect to your N Drive - Windows XP

Mapping the N: Drive for Window 2000/XP

  • 1.   Open My computer

    Double click on the My Computer icon or open Windows Explorer

  • 2.   Opening the Map Network Drive screen

In the My Computer window, click on the Tools menu at the top of the screen, and click on Map Network Drive.  An alternative method to get to this screen is to right click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and select Map Network Drive.

  • 3.   The Map Network Drive screen
    • The following screen will appear after the preceding instruction:
      • Please remember that you must have a direct connection to the College network to connect to your N: Drive
      • Woodroffe (Staff and Students): \\algshare\home
      • Perth:
      • Pembroke:
        • Staff: \\pembroke-1\username$
        • Students: \\pembroke-2\user0001$

  • The Drive letter is whatever you choose it to be.  Most people select N: out of convention, but this is up to you.

    The Folder is the path on the server for your campus. 

  • 4.   Authenticating to the N: drive server

Click on the “Connect using a different user name” link.  When you click on this link, the following screen will appear:

  • When you are entering your username, you must take care to enter woodroffe first. 
  • The proper way to enter the username is : woodroffe\username.
    • Examples:
Woodroffe Campus:
woodroffe\<username>

"woodroffe\lila0000"

Once you have entered this information, click on the “OK” button.

  • 5.   Connecting to the N: drive
    • When all the information is entered correctly, click on the Finish button to connect to the N: drive server.
    • Note:  You MUST be connected to the College network in order to map your N: drive from home.
