Borrowing Materials - Do I Need To Get A Library Card?

<< back to How do I

Newly registered Full Time students and new faculty/staff are issued ID cards at the beginning of the school year. The bar code number at the front of the card provides access to a variety of library services.

Are You in a Distance Education or Continuing Education Program? Are You a Partial Load student?

Certain categories of students and staff need to apply for a library card.

If you were not issued an Algonquin College photo ID card, you can obtain a library card by filling out an application at the Main Desk of your campus Learning Resource Centre. Be sure to bring some form of Photo ID when you go to apply for your library card.

Distance Education Students may apply for a library card via e-mail or fax to the appropriate campus learning centre (PDF, 103 KB). If you send your information via e-mail it is important that all fields requested on the pdf form are covered in your e-mail to us.

Distance Education students who are paying fees to Algonquin College and have an Algonquin College student ID may also have access to our online databases via the user ID and pin number generated by their library card.

Are you a Community Member?

Please apply in person at the Main Desk in the Learning Resource Centre of the campus located in your community. Be sure to bring some form of Photo ID when you go to apply for your library card.
