Can I place items on hold?

What is an Intercampus Loan?

An Intercampus loan is a request to borrow books or magazine/journal articles from one of the other Algonquin campuses. An Intercampus loan normally takes 3 business days from the date of confirmation of your request.

Who May Use This Service?

  • This service is available to everyone with a valid Algonquin Learning Resource Centre card whose library record is clear of fines and overdue material.
  • Alumni and Community members may request InterCampus loans at the Circulation/Reference desk or by phone. (See the contact numbers at the end of this page)
  • Algonquin students, faculty and staff can send their requests via their respective campus library or place a HOLD on the desired item online within the LRC catalogue (BIBCAT). Patrons must have a current User ID and PIN to place an online HOLD. For more information on getting a library account please visit our Library Accounts information page .

Holds may be placed on items that are:

  • Currently unavailable (already on loan). When a hold item becomes available, we will contact you by e-mail and / or by phone.
  • Available items that you intend to retrieve within a week.
  • Located at another Algonquin campus library, so that they may be delivered to your campus library. (3 business days are required for the item's transfer)
  • All items will be held for a maximum of one week and then returned to their original location.

Not all materials are available for holds

  • You cannot place holds on in-library use items (reserves or reference).
