What can I borrow from the Library?

Library users may take out books and visual media (DVDs, CDs, slides, audiocassettes etc.) materials for use outside of the library.  (Restrictions exist for Community and Alumni users)

As a general rule, a maximum of 10 items can be charged out at one time.

However, due to high demand and limited resources in particular subject areas of the collection, it may be necessary to limit borrowing to 3 items on any one subject.

Reserves

  • It is possible to borrow documents, books and other library materials, for use in the library, on an hourly loan basis. These items appear in the catalogue with the location code "Reserves" and are available at the Main Desk of your campus library. Reserve items more commonly have a 3 hour in-library loan period. (In rare cases a reserve may have been assigned a three day loan period). Reserves are restricted to Algonquin College students. Find out more

Textbook Collection

  • Textbooks are an in-library collection only and do not leave the library under any circumstance. Find out more.

Laptops

  • Students registered at Algonquin College may borrow laptops from their Campus Library or the Mobile Learning Centre (Woodroffe). Students must have a current student card or their library card with photo ID with them to borrow a laptop and borrowing period differ from campus to campus. Find out more

Periodicals

  • Perth* and Pembroke* Campus circulate periodicals for a 7 day period. Late fees apply. This service is not available at  Woodroffe Campus Library.
  • A valid Algonquin patron card must be presented at the time of borrowing.
