The Library collections are here to support the courses taught at Algonquin College. Algonquin staff and students can recommend books and/or videos for their campus LRC collection.
The Library offers access to over 76,000 books and videos. To see what is currently available to support your curriculum, access our online catalogue.
In addition to catalogued items we have access to over 10,000 electronic magazines and journals and e-books through our e-resource/database collection. These materials are available to Algonquin students, faculty and staff with a current library account.
Access to the e-resource content is available from the e-Resources page by e-resource collection, or by journal, magazine or newspaper titles via the A-Z Electronic Journal Locator. To access A-Z both on and off campus please choose the A-Z database from our alphabetical list of e-resources.
Want to know what subject areas in which the Library collects, which formats are the focus, or the Library's policy on donations? You can consult our Collection Development Policy online (coming soon) or directly contact a Library Collection Development Team member at your campus.

A Library Collection Development Team is available to help you with the selection of material. To recommend materials for purchase, please gather as much information as you can about the item(s) that you wish to order (Consult online bookstores, books reviews, etc to help you find appropriate material).
Give the information about the item(s) to the LRC selector for your School. All requests will be reviewed by the selector for that subject area and, if necessary, discussed with the Collections Librarian. We will do our best to meet your requests but some suggestions may not be purchased due to budget restrictions or because they fall outside of our Collection Development Policy.
While our Selectors can take your suggestions throughout the year, our primary ordering period is from April to September. The spring is the best time to submit requests. This ensures that items can be ordered, received and processed for the fall term. Items requested outside this period will be ordered as funds allow or will be placed on a pending list until the next budget year.
