Both the First Class Bookstore and the New Technology Store offer extended hours during peak periods at the start of each term in September, January and May.

The New Technology Store is your campus source for all of your technology needs. Owned and operated by Algonquin College, all profits realized by the operation are returned to the College each year. Our knowledgeable, non-commissioned sales staff are College employees who are interested in supporting your specific needs.

If you have problems with your personal computer, our certified technicians can repair or upgrade them while offering you a loaner unit when service is required.

The New Technology Store also offeres an interest-free Payroll Deduction Plan to all full-time and part-time College employees who meet eligibility requirements. Please see store for details.

Pembroke and Perth

Both Pembroke and Perth campuses have a small bookstore that is open full-time at the beginning of the Fall and Winter terms and on a part-time basis for the rest of each term.

Campus Travel

Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD)

The Centre for Students with Disabilities provides academic support services to students with disabilities. Services may include, but are not limited to, sign language interpreters, access to alternative-to-print material, assistance with notetaking, provision of technical aids, psycho-educational assessments, and extra time on tests and exams.

The Woodroffe CSD Test Room, C210, is available for proctoring services from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, Monday to Friday, by appointment. Contact the CSD for details.

Consistent with the College’s policy to support the professional development of College employees, eligible staff may register in credit and non-credit courses offered by the College, subject to availability, and may take advantage of a reduced fee charged per course. Staff, full- or part-time, who are currently employed by the College and who have a minimum six months’ accumulated employment within the past three years at Algonquin are eligible. Continuing Education courses can be found in OnCourse.

Dental Clinic

The Dental Clinic is a teaching clinic used to educate Dental Assistants and Dental Hygienists. Early Learning Centre

The Early Learning Centre at the Woodroffe Campus is a licensed Campus Child Development Centre and Student Learning Facility caring for children aged three months to five years. Breakfast, lunch and coffee break items are served in the cafeteria. Hot food is available during most of the college year. Hours of operation are posted inside the cafeteria, Room 116 on the first floor. Vending machines are located on the second and third floor elevator hallways and are accessible whenever the building is open. Beverages, snacks and sandwiches can be purchased. Two cold drink machines can also be found on the second floor; one just outside the Bookstore and the other in the elevator hallway.

Breakfast, lunch and coffee break items are served in the cafeteria under the direction of our food contractor. Vending machines with hot and cold drinks are also located in the cafeteria and are accessible whenever the building is open.

Fitness Club – Woodroffe Campus

Located in A Building at the Woodroffe Campus, the new state-of-the art Fitness Club features a wide variety of elite equipment. Fitness Trainers are available to develop programs that suit your individual needs and teach you how to use the equipment properly and safely. Please call a day in advance to book an appointment with a Fitness Trainer. College staff members have the privacy of a spacious change room outfitted with dry-saunas.

Health Services

A variety of medical supports are provided including medical check-ups, prescriptions, allergy shots, flu vaccines and birth control. Provincial health insurance (OHIP or equivalent) covers most costs.

A nurse is available during office hours. Doctors are available by appointment and also on a limited walk-in basis for urgent conditions.

A part-time nurse is available every week day.

Ombudsperson (Directive E20)

The mandate of the Ombudsperson includes investigating student complaints regarding academic matters, providing advice on policy and procedures, and on rights and responsibilities, as well as general guidelines on where and to whom complaints and inquiries are appropriately directed. Restaurant International

Students in the Hotel and Restaurant Management, Culinary Management, and Chef Training programs, who work under the scrutiny of their professors, operate the Restaurant International, which offers a different menu each day to ensure fresh and exciting dining. Prices range from $7-$10 per person for a four course lunch and $16-$20 per person for a four course dinner (taxes and beverages not included).

 “Savoir Faire” Fresh Food Products for Sale

Students from the Baking Techniques program, the Chef Training program, and the Culinary Management program offer a variety of products for sale at “Savoir Faire,” located in H Building. To guarantee freshness, all of the products are sold at the end of class.

Student bakers sell delicious breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, and more at bargain prices.

Meals prepared by the students in the Culinary Programs are sold in vacuum-sealed packages suitable for lunch or for reheating at home. A variety of soups, salads, entrées, and desserts are prepared with fresh ingredients. Check with your department for the posters advertising the days and times “Savoir Faire” is open.
