Welcome to Algonquin College! |
A Message from Raymonde Hanson,
Vice-President, Academic
When you become a teacher at Algonquin, you are joining a large and active group of professionals who are striving to give first-class instruction to our students. This resource can help you take advantage of the range of support services that exist to help you achieve excellence in your teaching. It is designed to answer some of your questions as you find your way in your first days at Algonquin and to point the way to essential information and help that you may need as you begin teaching your courses. Algonquin is strongly committed to supporting all of its activities with information technology. Each item in this handbook includes reference to a web page, where possible. You will find our most up-to-date information on the web. As a member of the Algonquin teaching staff, you will have a college network account and college email. These are your gateways to many of the useful things you will need to know and do as a teacher at the college. The first section of the handbook contains an alphabetic list of basic College information to complement what you will be told by your Department. The second section of the handbook contains information and contacts you will find useful in teaching your class. The third section includes general information about the college, such as parking, campus hours, and safety procedures. The fourth section is on-campus services. Many of the services, such as the Restaurant International, are also hands-on training centers for our students. As a teacher, you are encouraged to take advantage of these special services. Algonquin is a large and diverse community of active learners, and we welcome you as you embark on the very important role of helping us make our students successful. If you have any suggestions for making this resource better, please contact us at
