Teaching Tips
The development of a Blackboard for any course does take time and energy. While we lay out these online learning spaces, we sit for endless hours in front of our computer screens. This can result in an almost limited creative and logical vision when it comes to designing the architecture for these spaces. There are, however, a few tools that we can rely upon to help in our endeavors. Such tools include mind maps, concept charts, brain storm sessions, or design briefs.
To help with the progress of the Blackboard section of a course, the Online Learning Center has developed a "mind map" type chart. This curriculum tool can help teachers to visually map out the menus, sections, material, and design of an entire Blackboard before sitting down at the computer.
The Blackboard Planning Map was created to fit an 11" x 17" sheet of paper which would give ample room for checklists, notes, and sketches. Once the overall layout or map of the Blackboard is complete, all that a teacher needs to do is sit down on the computer and put it all together.
