Lab manuals, workbooks, and independent study modules are just a few examples of these kinds of learning materials that are used at Algonquin College. Designing Print-Based Learning Materials, a Queensland government site, provides excellent guidelines for producing print-based materials including writing and spatial design tips, tips for producing documents in multiple formats for special needs students, as well as good links to further resources. Guide 7: Print in Distance Education. This guideline from the University of Idaho discusses the advantages and disadvantages of print-based resources, as well as providing eight tips for designing print-based materials. Developing Learning Guides. This Powerpoint presentation by Lynne Eagan of Algonquin College, presents more useful tips related to the planning and design of effective learning guides, including attention to the cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects of the learning process.
