Strategies for Collaborative Learning
Collaborative Learning: Group Work and Study Teams from Barbara Davis's book Tools for Teaching, an excellent introduction to collaborative learning, provides many good tips for both group work and study teams. If you would prefer a hard copy version of this material, we have several copies of this text in our Learning Resource Centre. Assessment in and of Collaborative Learning from the Washing Centre for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Education, this web site provides a series of articles that explores colloborative learning applied within different contexts. Models of Collaboration by Timothy Butler and David Coleman is well worth the read. It describes, with graphics, five models for collaborative learning, moving from the least interactive to the most interactive. More on Team Building. This very short article, written with humour, also offers a number of good suggestions for managing team work. The language is a bit earthy!
