Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) (4-Term Bridging Program) (Co-op)

Bridging to 4th year Bachelor of Interior Design Degree

Algonquin College is pleased to offer an online bridge to the 4th year Bachelor of Interior Design Degree. We have been successfully offering this program since September 2011.

The purpose of bridging into the 4th year of Algonquin’s Bachelor of Interior Design program is to offer an opportunity for interior designers already in possession of a diploma credential to upgrade to a baccalaureate degree. The impetus for the program’s creation was the change to an Ontario requirement for all practicing interior design professionals. This regulation states that beginning January 01, 2017, a four year bachelor’s degree will be the minimum standard of accreditation for both intern and registered membership categories within the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO). This will soon be the education standard for all practicing interior design professionals across Canada.

While different provinces have varying requirements for professional status, at Algonquin, we strongly believe that within a very short time, all practicing designers in North America will be required to possess a minimum of a baccalaureate degree. We encourage you to upgrade your current credential to stay competitive in the marketplace.

Student Testimonials

“The bridging program was a successful way for me to advance from a diploma to a degree level of study; the courses were done online which gave an opportunity to move to Europe, travel, and study interior design all at the same time.” Aletta de Jonge

“With a Diploma in Interior Design from Dawson College, Montreal, I wanted to get a degree from Algonquin. I was a little apprehensive coming into the online bridging program but to my surprise, it turned out to be a great experience! The flexibility gave me the space I needed to travel, work and complete the courses online adhering to my own schedule. Professors were very understanding and promptly responded to questions.” – Nahed Nada
