Student Experience

What to Expect

Learn to become a game developer in the highly competitive and rewarding multi-billion dollar game development industry.

Students of the Game Development program learn, in an applied environment, to create games of strategy, skill, education, and entertainment. The program provides the design and deep thinking skills necessary to find employment in the game development industry.

The first year of the program is designed to introduce the student to basic programming syntax and game development software tools.

Work-Integrated Learning

The 2nd and 3rd years of the program are more challenging and entirely team-based – meaning students focus their learning in a production game environment as found in large game studios. Game designs, interactive game elements, asset modeling, game logic programming, user interface design, shader programming are all covered in depth. For the graduating semesters (4 to 6) students design and implement a complete game title for their capstone project. The capstone projects are entered into internationally recognized game development competitions and are promoted by the Game Development program.

Employment opportunities include game developer, game designer, game logic programmer, game play programmer, indie game producer, asset modeler or scene designer.
