SJ Normand has been employed by Algonquin College as a full time instructor since 2003 and as a Part Time instructor since 1992. She is the full time Coordinator for the 2 year Interior Decorating Diploma Program and enjoys teaching in many of the courses offered in the program. Her passion is drafting & history of furniture and she enjoys traveling to other countries with her family and her camera.
SJ is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Interior Design 3 year advance diploma program and has owned and operated Jean Vincent Parr Design Studio for 25 years. She is also a registered member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) and the Canadian Decorators Association (CDECA).

Sandra is a graduate of Interior Design from Fanshawe College and has practiced as both an Interior Designer and Decorator. Prior to becoming a full-time educator she worked for Paris Kitchens in Toronto, and started her own successful design company upon moving to Ottawa where she continues to work on select projects. Sandra found her passion for teaching at Algonquin in the Interior Design program and became a full-time member of the Interior Decorating program in 2005. In addition to teaching part-time at Algonquin she held a full-time position as Chair of Interior Design with the International Academy of Design & Technology.


Sandra is a registered member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) as well as the Canadian Decorators Association (CDECA) and remains active in the professional community. She is a graduate of the Teaching Adult Life Long Learners (TALL) program offered at Algonquin College. Her areas of interest as an educator are Kitchen & Bath, Window Treatments, Accessories, Textiles, Interior Finishes and Commercial Design. She motivates her students to discover their creative talents and gets them excited about the decorating industry. She shares her knowledge and passion of her profession with each and every student.

Anne Marie Hamel

Anne-Marie Hamel is an Interior Decorator and Adult Educator living in Ottawa, Ontario. She is a graduate from the 3 year Interior Design FIDER accredited diploma program from Dawson College located in Montreal, Quebec.

Her passion for interior decorating landed her a position working for a high-end decorating company in Montreal. This is where she spent the first 5 years of her professional career learning about her industry.

In 2004, her entrepreneurial-spirit led her to open her own small interior decorating business. As part of her professional development plan and desire to create careful planning for her business, she returned to Algonquin College and graduated from the 2 year Small and Medium Enterprise diploma program.

During her time at Algonquin College, Anne-Marie became involved with the Interior Decorating Program; first as a teacher’s assistant and now as part-time instructor. This new found love for teaching adults has enriched her life. She committed to helping each student achieve their academic and career goals.

Today, she continues to operate her business while incorporating her love for teaching adult learners into her career. Anne-Marie is also an educator member of the Canadian Decorators’ Association (CDECA).

Janet Menger, R.G.D.

Teaching since 1980, coordinator, professor and creator of the three year Graphic Design program have not reduced Janet's enthusiasm for her subject matter nor the importance of rapport with her students.
Dedicated to teaching excellence and wanting to make a difference, Janet loves all aspects of design and teaching. Her students have always been her number one priority-seeing them succeed in learning- and in life.
