Applied Museum Studies Student Awards

Ontario Museum Association Award

This award will be presented annually to a graduating student who has accomplished the following:

Criteria

  1. Either shown significant academic improvement, or maintained an above average academic level throughout the program
  2. Demonstrated a commitment to the Museum field through his/her academic work and extra curricular activities
  3. Shown independent learning skills
  4. Demonstrated the capacity to work well as a group member in team situations

Applied Museum Studies Preservation Award

The AMS Preservation Award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of a student enrolled in the AMS program who, through substantial efforts, has advanced the field of conservation and furthered the cause of conservation through public outreach and advocacy. The award is in the amount of $200.00.

Criteria

  1. Must be an active member of the Canadian Association for the Conservation of Cultural Property
  2. Must be enrolled in the AMS program
  3. Must have made valuable contributions to the field through treatment projects, innovative techniques and inventions, research, creation of conservation-related programs and/or publications
  4. Must have actively furthered the cause of conservation through public outreach and advocacy
  5. Must have a GPA of 3.8 - 4.0

Historical Society of Ottawa's Applied Museum Studies Award

Awarded to a student of the AMS program who has contributed to the research, preservation or presentation of local history.

A $500.00 award is presented to the successful recieptant at the end of the Fall semester.

Student's may nominate a fellow student or themselves and nomination forms are available via the AMS homeroom page on blackboard.

The Ottawa Art Gallery Conservation Award

Presented to a student who has been actively engaged in the conservation treatment of collections material from the Ottawa Art Gallery.

A $250.00 award is presented to the successful recieptant at the end of the winter semester at the Departmental Awards Ceremony.
