Rules & Regulations
General
A parking permit does not guarantee that a space is available.
-
Both Municipal and College Enforcement Officers will use reasonable means to prevent unauthorized parking by non-permit holders.
-
If you forget your pass you should immediately obtain a temporary pass from Parking Services to avoid receiving a Parking Infraction Notice.
-
The College is the only legitimate distributor of parking permits on any Algonquin College campus. Any permit purchased from any other source is invalid. A vehicle displaying an alternate permit will be immediately ticketed and towed.
-
Parking permits are not transferable. Vehicles bearing permits in use by one individual and owned by another will be ticketed and/or towed.
-
Vehicles should not be parked overnight unless authorized by Parking Services or unless the vehicle is parked in the Residence lot bearing a valid Algonquin College Residence permit.
-
Algonquin College assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to vehicles or their contents, however caused, while on Algonquin College property. All cars should be securely locked.
-
Parking fees are for use of the space only.
-
Vehicles presenting an environmental danger (e.g. gas leak) will be removed from the property immediately.
-
Algonquin College does not assume responsibility for any vehicles parked on Algonquin property.
Violations
Parking privileges may not be renewed or can be revoked at any time by Parking Services for parking violations or non-payment of parking fines. Parking violations include, but are not limited to:
-
Parking in a higher priced lot than the permit displayed (e.g. Green permit in Red permit lot).
-
Vehicles parked in restricted spaces such as Accessible spaces or loading zones.
-
Vehicles bearing expired, lost, stolen, or forged permits.
-
Parking on roadway shoulders, grassed areas, fire lanes, fire routes or in no parking areas.
-
Improperly displayed permits or no permit displayed.
-
Triple parking where only two rows are available.
-
Flat rate Lot 12 parking anywhere other than in Lot 12.
-
Failing to properly display a permit.
-
Other Municipal bylaws or violations provided for in provincial legislation.
Permits
-
No vehicle shall be parked on College property without a valid parking permit clearly displayed. It is essential that the permit be in its proper place, as failure to do so will invalidate the permit.
-
Hang tag permits shall hang on the rearview mirror facing outwards, or may be placed on the driver’s side dash with the permit in full view at all times.
-
Motorcycle stickers may be placed on the windscreen, front forks, or the gas tank.
-
Pay and Display permits must be on the driver’s side dash, face up and clearly visible at all times.
-
A $25 dollar fee will be charged to replace a lost or stolen permit. Your receipt is required to obtain a replacement. Once the permit has been declared lost or stolen, it becomes invalid. Any vehicle found using such a permit will be ticketed and/or towed. The College cannot issue a refund if the permit is recovered. You may obtain a temporary pass from Parking Services.
-
The purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee that a space is available in the lot designated by your permit color. You may occupy a space in another lot of lower value provided there are no spaces in the lot designated by your permit number (e.g. Lot 8 permit in Lot 9). A higher priced permit can always be used to occupy a lower priced lot space should space in your designated lot not be available.
The parking of a vehicle on campus is a privilege governed by the Algonquin College parking regulations. Information concerning any of these regulations may be obtained from Parking Services, 727-4723 ext. 7187 or by email from parking@algonquincollege.com
