The Pembroke Campus has a friendly, helpful staff; small class sizes conducive to learning; and a low student/teacher ratio. We want to help you succeed in your studies and encourage you to enjoy some fun social activities with your fellow students.
Here are some advantages of studying in the
Computer Systems Technician Program at the
Pembroke Campus:
Small Class Sizes
With a low student/teacher ratio, you will receive the attention you need to be successful in your studies and have more hands-on time in the computer lab.
Experienced Staff
Our faculty have worked in the computer field from the ground up. You will be learning from experts who can teach you the fundamentals you need to launch your career in the high-tech industry.
Paid Co-op Opportunities
Students will work side-by-side with IT experts in a variety of settings. Whether it is desktop services, troubleshooting and repair, sales and service, network installation...you will have four months at a workplace of your choice to get experience, confidence and a pay cheque!
Lab Facilities & Certifications
Our lab is being upgraded to meet current industry standards and new technology provides our students with exceptional practical learning experiences. Our Computer Systems Technician lab includes a simulated networked environment so students can learn how to install, dismantle, and troubleshoot a computer networks in a real-time situation.
Active Students’ Association
By investing in new facilities on campus and organizing plenty of social events throughout the year, our Students’ Association has created a terrific environment for students. Plus, the S.A. supports students with several services including a dental and health plan, photocopying services, sports activities, and more.
Great Student Services
With a campus of 800 full-time students annually, we are big enough to offer you the services you expect, but small enough to get to know you. Whether it’s health services, financial assistance, counselling, or tutoring, we’ll be there for you when you need us.
Low Cost of Living
Studying in a smaller city can save you a lot of money on rent, transportation and travel, and general cost of living expenses. The City of Pembroke is a small community of approximately 15,000 which offers students affordable housing, most of which is within walking distance of the campus.
Graduate Satisfaction & Employment Opportunities
For several years running, Algonquin College has been been a leader in the province for student satisfaction (results of the provincial Key Performance Indicators survey). Our grads get jobs! More than 92% of Algonquin graduates are employed within six months of graduation. |
