Algonquin College in the Ottawa Valley places a strong emphasis on providing students with real life work experiences to better prepare them for their careers. As part of their training, students participate in mock scenarios throughout the year that simulate incidents that require students to practice their investigative skills.

These scenarios include investigating traffic accidents, domestic disputes and narcotics investigations.  Each student has a role to play in these scenarios which also involve actual police officers who help teach the students the dos and don’ts of investigative work.

Once the scenario is completed the work isn’t done for students. They must act out the ensuing court procedures, providing them with more relevant learning that will prepare them for their future in law and security careers.
