CAREER WEEK: Algonquin Social and Career
Networking
We reconnected with some of our Alumni at an informal social in February 2011. As well asnetworking with other grads, we invited alumni to chat with current students, share their perspective on careers, and take part in our “This is My Job” career networking segment. Outdoor Adventure Graduate Ben Shillington gave an illustrated talk on his recent trek across Lake Winnipeg and everyone enjoyed great food and made some new contacts.
 NEW EVENT - BOWL-A-RAMA FUNDRAISER - The Pembroke Branch of the Algonquin Alumni Association organized a new event this year and decided to donate the funds raised to the new Pembroke Campus. About 60 people participated in a family Bowl-A-Rama event and raised $1,025 in support of the capital campaign for the new Pembroke Campus. The next Alumni Event will be the annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 20th--see next item below.

Alumni Spotlight on . . .
Ben Shillington, an Outdoor Adventure program graduate, instructor and adventure enthusiast, is about to embark on a major winter expedition.
It's just part of the preparation for a future dream he has to explore Greenland and the north and south poles.
