See our monthly Calendar of workshops we will be offering, including events taking place at our office or in the Perth area.

Participating in an employment workshop is a great way to better prepare yourself for the workplace. We offer several workshops that are designed to help get your foot in the door, or advance your career.

We deliver these workshops in a group setting and/or one-on-one at our office.

Resumes & Cover Letters

This workshop offers tips on what kinds of resumes capture the attention of employers, what information is necessary for a professional cover letter, how to transfer your pre-existing skill sets, how to market yourself in print and how to prepare a resume with little paid work experience. This workshop provides both a general overview of resume and cover letter writing, while tailoring itself to each participant’s resume and cover letter writing needs.


Job Search & Interviewing Techniques

workshop CESWhether you are just starting your job search journey, or have been playing the job-hunt game for some time, this workshop is for you! This workshop provides you with tips on where to look for jobs, how to approach employers confidently, how to market yourself, as well as a number of websites to open up the world of online job searching. This workshop also introduces various interview techniques to help you feel comfortable with yourself and confident in your abilities when an interview comes up


Re-thinking Your Career

Whether you have been laid off, are returning to the workforce, considering upgrading your skills, or changing career directions, our workshop about exploring and planning career options may help you get on the right path. This workshop includes help determining what career might best suit your personality, where to look for upgrading information and financial assistance and transferring your skills to a new career.


Career Exploration & Labour Market Trends

This workshop will help you to discover careers that suit your abilities and personality with an online assessment. From the results, you will be able to explore careers in the areas that match the person you are. The second portion of the workshop will give you information on the local labour market, updates on the local economy and labour force while providing you with tips on recognizing which industries are booming and where to start if you’re thinking about changing career paths.


Interview Techniques & Follow-up

This workshop is designed as a continuation of our Job Search and Interviewing Techniques workshop. In this series, we will focus more on how you perform in an interview and what your next step is once the interview is through. This workshop will assist you in polishing the skills you will need to answer interview questions effectively and appeal to potential employers.


Orientation to Apprenticeship

This workshop describes the history of apprenticeship in Ontario, provides the procedures required to obtain an apprenticeship, and helps to arrange the pre-registration of individuals who already have jobs. Further steps include connection with potential employers and the Ministry Employment & Training consultants. Question and answer period is always included.

Job Maintenance

Our job maintenance workshop will give you tips on what to expect the first few days on the job, the importance of workplace safety, how to keep your job and stay employable in a tough economy, how to improve in the workplace and build your skills, how to handle conflict in the workplace, assertive communication and ways to stand out as a star employee so your boss will take notice and (more importantly) you will get the most out of your job.


Worker Health and Safety

Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps training introduces workers to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. It focuses on the health and safety rights and responsibilities of workers, supervisors and employers. It also serves as a general introduction to workplace health and safety. Workers can use this free training program as one way to meet the minimum training required by the Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training regulation.


Smart Serve

Effective January 2008, the Province of Ontario requires that all staff who handle, serve or work in an environment that handles or serves alcohol obtain Smart Serve® Certification. The Smart Serve® Training Program is designed to promote the responsible service of alcohol. The on-line course takes between 3 – 3.5 hours to complete and covers topics such as facts about alcohol, how alcohol works in the body, signs of intoxication, legal rights and responsibilities, civil liability and prevention and intervention techniques. The program structure includes on-line training modules & practice quizzes followed by a proctored on-line test.
