Mike Rushton joined the College in 1990 following a successful career of twenty years in the Canadian military, which included positions in engineering, construction, facilities and project management. He trained as a Civil Engineer at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. Mr. Rushton carries overall responsibility to provide administrative and facilities leadership while managing the human and financial resources of the Department to ensure its success in achieving its mission in support of the College strategic plan. Under his leadership a vision for the department has been established to be valued and respected among Canadian Colleges for providing learning facilities and property management services that support student success. Mr. Rushton is actively involved in professional associations such as the Canadian Design Build Institute, where he chaired the Owners Sub-committee for several years, as well as the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Facilities Administrators Association.
